The following article provides an overview of transactions on Socios.com, covering CHZ top-ups, sending and receiving assets, fees, and advice should you encounter any issues.

Topping up your account

To top up your account with CHZ, click on ‘Top-up’ in the wallet and then select the currency you would like to use to purchase CHZ.

Next, enter the amount you would like to spend. The amount you will receive in CHZ will be shown below. Then click on ‘select payment’ and choose from the variety of payment methods available to complete the purchase.

Sending or receiving assets?  Use Chiliz Chain-compatible wallets only.

The Socios.com Wallet has been designed to provide users with an easy to follow experience for sending and receiving assets. However, there are important things that all users need to be aware of.

The Socios.com Wallet is built on Chiliz Chain, which means:

You can only send assets (CHZ, Fan Tokens, PEPPER and NFTs) to wallets that are compatible with Chiliz Chain.

You can only deposit assets (CHZ, Fan Tokens, PEPPER and NFTs) from wallets that are compatible with Chiliz Chain.

When using third-party wallets to send or receive assets, it is essential that you select the ‘Chiliz Chain’ network. If this option is unavailable, then do not use the wallet! If you send assets to or from an incompatible wallet you’ll lose them.

Also – when depositing assets to your Socios.com Wallet please be sure to copy your address carefully and double-check it’s correct before sending.

Always start with transferring a small amount in case of doubts.

If you have upgraded to the new wallet.

If you’re an existing customer and have upgraded to the new wallet, please be aware that your wallet address has changed. Make sure to update your Socios.com wallet address in your external wallets.

Fees

Why do I need to pay fees for certain transactions?

Certain transactions carried out in the Socios.com wallet, such as using CHZ to buy Fan Tokens or sending and receiving assets, are executed on the Chiliz Chain.

A fee, known as ‘gas’ or a ‘gas fee,’ is required to execute these transactions. These gas fees are paid in CHZ. This is standard across most blockchain-based wallets.

Why would a transaction fail?

Transactions occasionally fail on blockchains for many different reasons, but these are typically temporary or due to things like slippage being exceeded (the difference between the expected price of an order and the actual price). Make sure to check the error message, which will normally explain the root cause of the issue.

Why did I pay a fee if my transaction failed?

This depends on the point at which the transaction fails. If the transaction fails after it has been written in the block files and recorded on the blockchain, the fee may still be applicable.

Why was the amount deducted not the same as the original fee shown?

Fees can rise due to an increase in blockchain traffic. The more transactions happening at the same time, the greater the fee will be.

How do I check transactions on Socios.com?

If you want to check your transactions, then you can do so via the block explorer.

All you’ll need to do is click on ‘Receive’ in the wallet, click on ‘Copy address’ and then go to https://chiliscan.com/ and paste your wallet address into the search engine. This will take you to the tab where all your transactions will be listed.

The Socios.com Wallet provides modern, efficient security measures for users. The following article explains the technology and methods Socios.com uses to deliver this and provides important information about staying secure when using the wallet to interact with third-party wallets.

Passkey technology

The Socios.com wallet uses passkey technology.

Instead of relying on a password that can be forgotten or stolen, passkeys maintain the security of your account by only allowing access through your biometric data (face or fingerprint), or a unique PIN.

You will create your Passkey as soon as you open your account on Socios.com (if you’re a new customer) or switch to the new wallet (if you’re an existing customer).

If you encounter any issues related to passkeys on Socios.com or would just like to know more about how they work and how they are used on the platform, we’ve created an article that covers all of this in detail. You can read it by clicking the link below.

Everything you need to know about Passkeys on Socios.com

Recovery kit

The Recovery Kit ensures that you don’t permanently lose access to your assets if you lose your Passkey.

The Recovery Kit consists of a Recovery Code and a Recovery Kit ID.

Saving your Recovery Kit details safely and securely is a must, as this is the only way to ensure that you can still retrieve your Wallet and digital assets if your device gets lost and you cannot access your Passkey.

You will create your Recovery Kit as soon as you open your account on Socios.com (if you’re a new customer) or switch to the new wallet (if you’re an existing customer). To repeat, make sure you securely save these details in the cloud or somewhere you know you’ll be able to locate them securely in the future.

Keeping your wallet secure.

There are some important things to note here for both new and longer-term users.

If you have switched from the old wallet.

If you’re an existing customer and have switched to the new wallet, please be aware that your wallet address has changed. You can no longer send assets to or from the old wallet, and if you attempt to send assets to your old wallet address they will be lost.

Sending or receiving assets?  Use Chiliz Chain-compatible wallets only.

The Socios.com Wallet is on Chiliz Chain, which means:

You can only send assets (CHZ and Fan Tokens) to wallets that are compatible with Chiliz Chain.

You can only deposit assets (CHZ and Fan Tokens) from wallets that are compatible with Chiliz Chain.

When using third-party wallets to send or receive assets, it is essential that you select the ‘Chiliz Chain’ network.

If this option is not available, then do not use the wallet! If you send assets to or from an incompatible wallet you’ll lose them.

Also – when depositing assets to your Socios.com Wallet please be sure to copy your address carefully and double-check it’s correct before sending.

Creating a secure user experience

Passkeys and the Recovery Kit provide users on Socios.com with secure ways of accessing and interacting with their accounts. However, it’s also essential to exercise vigilance when using third-party wallets or exchanges to send or receive assets.

Passkeys let you sign into a digital account using a biometric sensor (face or fingerprint) or PIN, eliminating the need for a password. They are a very popular authentication method, used in practically every sector.

Here we’ll explain how passkey technology works and how to create your passkey on Socios.com.

We’ll also explain what you need to do if you’re not able to create a passkey using your current device.

How do Passkeys work?

Instead of relying on a password that can be forgotten or stolen, Passkeys allow you to access online accounts using your face, fingerprint or a unique PIN.

But are they secure?

Yes. Each passkey consists of two cryptographic (encoded) keys: a public key known to the application you are signing up for and a private key stored securely on your device.

These keys maintain the security of your account, which is unlocked by your unique biometric data (face or fingerprint), or PIN.

How do I create a Passkey on Socios.com?

If you’re an existing user and you’ve already switched to the new wallet, you will have created the passkey as part of this process. You’ll be able to unlock your account by using your face, fingerprint, or PIN.

If you’re a new user, you’ll create your passkey when you open your account on Socios.com by following the straightforward in-app instructions. Just make sure that when you see the option to create a passkey for your account, you tap “continue.”

How are Passkeys used in transactions on Socios.com?

When you initiate a transaction, like buying Fan Tokens, your passkey is used to prove you own the wallet. You’ll confirm the action the same way you unlock your phone—using your face, fingerprint, or PIN. This ensures your transactions are safe without the need for complicated passwords or extra steps.

I’m unable to create a passkey for my Socios.com account. What should I do?

iPhone

  1. Check your device is at least an iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, or later model to meet the passkey requirements. (these were released on September 12, 2022, it is supported on the iPhone 8 (2017)  and newer)
  1. Your passkey will be stored in your iCloud Keychain, which needs to be activated before you can create one. You can enable iCloud Keychain by going to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Passwords and Keychain.

Android

  1. Check your device is running Android 9.0 (which was released publicly on August 6, 2018) or a later version.
  1. Check your screen lock is turned on.
  1. Your passkeys will be stored in your default passkey provider. For Android 9-13, this is Google Password Manager. For Android 14 and later models you can select your passkey provider. You can change the default passkey provider by going to Settings > Password Manager.

My device isn’t compatible with Passkey technology. What should I do?

If you’re a new user, we suggest waiting until you have a device compatible with Passkey technology before attempting to create a Socios.com account.

If you are an existing user and you want to update to the new wallet but can’t because your new device isn’t compatible, you can also try the following:

1)  Updating your device to the latest version.

2)  If the latest version isn’t supported, you can try accessing Socios.com via the web using your laptop or computer.

3)  If this is not possible then you can reach out to support@socios.com who will support you in withdrawing your funds to an external wallet.

One thing you definitely shouldn’t do is attempt to create an account on someone else’s device (!)

Modern authentication for users.

The Socios.com Wallet uses passkey technology to provide a secure, up-to-date and reliable authentication method.
